Our Methodology
How every project begins
Regardless of which service a watch requires, every project at Wela Atelier follows the same sequence. The watch is examined first, without disassembly, to understand its condition and history. A written assessment is then prepared and shared with the owner before any work is agreed to.
Once the scope is agreed, the watch enters the workshop queue. We do not rush this — our focus is on doing the work properly rather than quickly. The owner is contacted if anything unexpected is found during work that changes the scope or cost. Collection is arranged once work is complete and timing or other quality checks have been carried out.

Service 01
Complete Movement Overhaul
A full service for mechanical and automatic watches, where the movement is disassembled, cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, inspected part by part, lubricated with appropriate oils, and reassembled before careful regulation. Suited to owners of vintage and modern timepieces who would like their watch to keep steady time again.

Service 02
Dial & Case Restoration
A considered restoration of worn cases and faded dials, carried out only with the owner's agreement on how far to take the work. Services may include refinishing brushed and polished surfaces, careful dial cleaning or repainting by a specialist, replacement of damaged hands, and the fitting of a new crystal. Ideal for sentimental pieces and family heirlooms where preserving character matters as much as appearance.

Service 03
Antique & Vintage Restoration
A patient, comprehensive restoration for older mechanical watches and pocket watches, including movements that need parts fabricated by hand. This service covers sourcing or making replacement components, addressing rust and pivot wear, conserving original dials, and rebuilding the timepiece to run reliably while respecting its history. Each project begins with an assessment and a clear, written explanation of what is possible.

Standards that apply to every piece
Secure custody
All watches in our care are stored in a locked, controlled space when not being actively worked on. We keep a clear record of every piece in the workshop.
Written documentation
Every watch receives a pre-work assessment and a post-work service record. Timing data is included where applicable. This paperwork is yours to keep.
No surprises on collection
Cost is agreed before work begins. If something changes during the process, we contact the owner before proceeding. The final bill reflects only what was agreed.
Professional cleaning equipment
Ultrasonic cleaning is part of every movement overhaul. Components are processed in watch-grade cleaning solution and dried in a controlled environment before reassembly.
Timing machine verification
Every serviced movement is tested on a multi-position timing machine before handback. Rate performance in several positions is checked and documented.
Owner always part of the process
For restoration decisions — how far to take surface work, whether to replace or conserve a dial — we consult the owner. The watch is theirs; so is the decision.
