Terms & Conditions

Wela Atelier · Last Updated: 8 May 2025

These terms set out the basis on which Wela Atelier accepts timepieces for service and restoration. By leaving a watch with us or confirming a service in writing, you are agreeing to these terms. We have written them to be clear and fair, and we are happy to discuss any part of them before work begins.

1. About Wela Atelier

Wela Atelier is a watch repair and restoration workshop operating at 142 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. We specialise in the servicing and restoration of mechanical, automatic, and antique timepieces. Correspondence may be sent to [email protected] or by telephone at +66 2 619 4738.

2. Submitting a Timepiece for Service

Before any work is carried out, we will conduct an initial assessment of your timepiece and provide you with a written description of the proposed scope of work, an estimated cost, and an estimated turnaround period. No service work will begin without your clear agreement to this assessment.

You are responsible for providing accurate information about the watch — its history, any known damage, and any prior repairs — as this affects our assessment. We cannot accept responsibility for undisclosed prior repairs or damage that is not apparent during an initial inspection.

Where an assessment reveals additional issues not covered in the original scope, we will contact you before proceeding further. Work beyond the agreed scope will only be carried out with your written consent.

3. Pricing and Payment

All prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Our standard service prices are as follows:

Complete Movement Overhaul ฿4,300

Dial & Case Restoration ฿9,400

Antique & Vintage Restoration ฿14,800

For complex or bespoke work, a separate written quotation will be provided prior to commencement. Listed prices represent the starting point for the scope described; additional components, hand-fabricated parts, or work agreed beyond the original scope will be invoiced separately and only with your consent.

Payment is due upon collection of the timepiece, unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept payment in cash (Thai Baht) or by bank transfer. We reserve the right to hold a timepiece until full payment has been received.

If a quotation is accepted but you later decide not to proceed after assessment work has begun, a reasonable assessment fee may be charged to cover time and any consumables used.

4. Turnaround Times

Estimated turnaround periods are given in good faith based on the information available at the time of assessment. They are not binding commitments. Work on mechanical watches, and in particular on antique and vintage pieces, can reveal complications that take additional time to address properly.

We will keep you informed of progress and notify you as early as possible if a timeline needs to change. Our preference is always to complete work to the right standard rather than to a fixed date.

Standard estimates are two to four weeks for movement overhauls, with scope-dependent timelines for case and dial restoration and extended periods for antique and vintage work. These are discussed and confirmed at assessment.

5. Care and Handling of Timepieces

All timepieces left with us are handled with care and stored securely when not under active work. We take reasonable precautions against damage, loss, and theft. Each piece is logged on receipt with notes on its condition.

We carry professional workshop insurance. In the event that a watch in our care suffers damage attributable to our negligence, we will discuss the matter with you openly and work toward a fair resolution. Our liability in any such case is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or the assessed value of the timepiece, whichever is lower.

We are not liable for pre-existing damage, fragility attributable to age, or faults that could not reasonably have been anticipated during initial assessment. For antique pieces, we will note any particular fragility in writing before work begins.

6. Collection and Uncollected Timepieces

You will be notified when your timepiece is ready for collection. We ask that collection takes place within 60 days of notification. Beyond this period, a storage fee may apply at a rate of ฿200 per week.

If a timepiece remains uncollected for more than 12 months following completion of work and payment, and we are unable to make contact with the owner despite reasonable efforts, we reserve the right to treat the watch as abandoned. In such cases we will follow applicable Thai law regarding the disposal of unclaimed property.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Thai law, Wela Atelier's total liability to you in connection with any service or interaction shall not exceed the amount you have paid us for the specific service in question.

We are not liable for indirect losses, loss of sentimental value, or consequential losses arising from delays, service outcomes, or any other aspect of our work. This does not affect your statutory rights under applicable Thai consumer protection legislation.

We do not make specific performance claims about the outcome of any restoration. Each timepiece is different, and we will always provide an honest assessment of what is possible before work begins.

8. Cancellations and Changes of Scope

You may withdraw your timepiece from service at any point before work has commenced, with no charge. Once work has begun under an agreed scope, a proportionate fee reflecting work completed to date will apply if you choose not to proceed.

You may request changes to an agreed scope at any time. We will assess the implications and provide a revised quotation before proceeding with any amendments. Changes that require us to partially undo completed work may incur an additional charge, which we will discuss with you before any such work is done.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Thailand. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms, or to services provided by Wela Atelier, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Thailand.

We would always prefer to resolve any concern directly before any formal process becomes necessary. Please contact us first at [email protected] or by telephone.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or in applicable law. The version in effect at the time you submit a timepiece for service will apply to that engagement. We will always publish the current version on this page with its effective date.
